The blocky sandbox game that is so popular Minecraft is close to 54 million copies sold across all platforms, claims Mojang's Patrick Geuder, who also announced on Twitter that the console (Xbox 360 and PS3) versions of the game have surpassed sales of the PC and Mac versions. The game will be available on Xbox One, PS4 or Vita in August. The Vita version of the game is Cross-Buy compatible and free for players who have the PS3 version. Xbox One and PS4 owners that have the game on Xbox 360 or PS3 will be able download the latest version for $5.

Players' first moments with Minecraft began in May 2009 when the alpha version was made available, a little more than two years before its full release in November 2011. Mojang and Markus "Notch", Persson who is the Minecraft creator have reached numerous milestones in the sales. Recently, Mojang reported that 15 million copies had been sold of the PC version. In the same month the Xbox 360 version reached 12 million sold, and the Pocket Edition for iOS and Android reached 21 million. Hunter [Image: Mojang]
