Minecraft star Stampy Cat to present an RSE Christmas speech

YouTube and Minecraft legend Stampy Cat is to deliver an educational program in front of 2,000 schoolchildren in Dundee.



Stampy, whose real name was Joseph Garrett, will deliver the Royal Society of Edinburgh's Christmas lecture in Caird Hall on Monday. deep space ii



The creator of the "Let's Play" videos for Minecraft and other games has more than 6.7m users on his YouTube channel.



The lecture next Thursday will only be available on BBC iPlayer.



BBC Scotland reported that Minecraft fans will be able to witness Stampy demonstrate how he creates his videos during a discussion with Chris van der Kuyl, Dundee games entrepreneur.



Stampy will talk through the making of his Christmas special while giving the audience an insight into his life and a career that has seen him become one of the most popular YouTubers.



Van der Kuyl stated that Stampy was the "epitome digital native of the 21st century" who would inspire viewers regardless of their age.



"Stampy is an inspirational persona to a new generation that can clearly see that the future of careers will depend on a unique mix of talent, creativity and technical abilities that can all be learned," he said.



The RSE lecture will be presented as part of BBC Make it Digital, an initiative designed to promote digital creativity among young people.
