Play Minecraft On The Oculus Rift Right This Moment

Minecraft has landed on the Oculus Rift as part of a free replace to the Home windows 10 Version beta. Anyone who owns the Laptop or Mac model of Minecraft is automatically granted entry to the Home windows 10 beta version; hit up Mojang to enroll and start playing.

We tried out the Oculus Rift version of Minecraft again in March and found it to be completely delightful.

"It's among the best and more immersive VR experiences I've had to date," senior editor Nathan Ingraham wrote. "The truth is, that lack of tremendous detail really helps Minecraft be so profitable -- the sport would not attempt to mimic reality. As an alternative, it felt more like I stepped into a cartoon." Minecraft is already playable on the Samsung Gear VR, although that is limited to the features of the Pocket Edition. The Oculus Rift model options help for the Xbox One controller plus keyboard and mouse, and players' VR-specific settings are saved individually from their traditional Minecraft world. Hunter

Mojang developer Tommaso Checchi tweeted on Thursday that the Oculus Rift model of Minecraft would land some time this week, although he didn't reveal a precise date. Completely happy Monday, everybody.
